Yannis Pechtelidis

My name is Yannis Pechtelidis, and I am a Professor of Sociology of Education at the University of Thessaly. I studied Sociology and then completed postgraduate studies in Political Science and Sociology at the University of Athens. I also pursued further training in the Methodology of Political and Social Theory at the University of Essex. I earned my PhD from the Department of Early Childhood Education at the University of Athens, specializing in the Sociology of Education.
I participate in several European research projects as a coordinator, including the SMOOTH (H2020) project. My research interests focus on educational commons, sociological studies of education, childhood and youth, discourse theory and analysis, as well as educational ethnography.
I am a member of the European Sociological Association (ESA), the European research networks on the Sociology of Childhood and the Sociology of Education, and the international network for Discourse Analysis. I have published papers in reputable international academic journals and have edited and authored several books.
